With the current president and vice president that we have curently our rights and equality are under attack and will remain under attack until they have taken away our rights that have been afforded to us by the US Supreme Court. When President Trump was running his campaign for President he promised that he would continue to fight and protect all LGBTQs and since then he has turned his back on us. We as a community must stand together and continue our fight as we have for decades as this fight will never be over especially with the conservative republicans that are controlling the government right now.
I will continue to stand and show support for my community where I live and the conservatives that I’m not afraid of them.
I can say that this year I won’t be attending Pride 2017 in Chicago like I had plans on doing as it was something that I wanted to do this year. But it’s ok, I am going to go to Champaign-Urbana and go to their Pride celebration and it will be the first time of me going to Pride in Champaign-Urbana during September. I am looking forward to seeing what Champaign-Urbana has to offer for Pride for events as this will be something new and exciting for me to go to this year and am looking forward to going and enjoying myself.
I am going to take a couple of my friends with me so that I’m not going alone as this is something new for me as when I go somewhere new or an event that is new to me, I always go with a friend or a few friends. Although I would much rather go to a much bigger Pride celebration, but one can’t complain as I will be celebrating amongst others in the same thing.
So here’s to Pride 2017 and what it all has to offer.
Today The Trump Administration has announced that they are rescinding protections to trans youth on the federal level. During President Trumps campaign to be president, he said that he was an ally for LGBT, well if you’re an ally for the LGBT community then why are you taking away these simple rights and protections that a true president enacted to ensure the safety of our youth. You Mr. President, are not a president.
There is so much that I could so here that is political but this isn’t about politics, it’s about human rights and the safety of our youth. We need to stand together and let them know that we support them and will protect them since our government no longer wants to protect them for obvious reasons. It is in my personal opinion that the Trump Administration and the Republicans are transphobic.
I was told that I needed to give Mr. Trump a chance when he made it into office. Well you know what I have given him enough chances. I will no longer give him another chance. All he is doing a destroying our country, our allies, our friends, and neighbors. We must stand together and let the arrogant businessman know we won’t tolerate his nonsense.
I am officially stating that Mr. Trump is #NotMyPresident and never will be. People like him and VP Pence need to learn that everyone were created equal and deserve to be treated equal no matter how they identify, what their orientation is, how wealthy or poor they are. We are human beings.
Below is an open letter to Mike Pence from Martin Hyatt, which was recently published on The Huffington Post. His words really resonated with me.
“AN OPEN LETTER TO MIKE PENCE: WE ARE NOT DOING THAT AGAIN”
November 13, 2016
Dear Mr. Pence,
Congratulations on your victory. First of all, I believe that you and Trump/Pence supporters think that we are upset because the Democrats lost. True, we are upset that we lost the election, but we are marching in the streets because we are scared of you. We are terrified of people like you and of a government that aligns itself with hate and ignorance.
People like you and Donald Trump have a history of making America think that we will lose our civil rights. This is not about losing our civil rights. It is about losing the lives we have.
I am writing this to tell you that we are not going backwards. We are not starting from scratch.
There was a time in our country when we were rounded up, locked up, falsely arrested for sex crimes, and had to live our lives in shame. Just so you know, we are not doing that again. Those days are long gone.
There was a time in our country when many of us were psychologically tortured by our “Christian” relatives and were told that we were going to burn in hell. We were told that we are sinners and that there was no spiritual place for us in this world. We are not going backwards. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when there were no depictions of LGBT life on television or film. There was a time when we had no cultural role model because simply loving someone of the same sex was considered too provocative. We will not go back to being invisible. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when we were sent to therapy and mental health professionals because the shame that society put on us drove us to self-destructive behaviors. Some of us turned to drugs and alcohol to damage ourselves because people like you told us that we were already damaged. Some of us tried to take our own lives. People like you made us feel like there was something wrong with us. We will no longer harm ourselves to further empower you. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when we saw our friends and loved ones die in our arms because the government was slow to acknowledge a disease that impacted the entire world. Brilliant and beautiful people died in the prime of their lives thanks to denial and prejudice during the AIDS crisis. Some of thought that we were going to automatically die because we were different. Those days are long gone. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when as young men and women, we found ourselves on the streets of this country because our families had thrown us out. Some of us found ourselves without a family at all because they had disowned us. We are not going back to that. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when we had to sit with our families and keep quiet about who we were. This was when people did not fully understand what it was like to be around those who were openly gay. They did not understand that we were equal and not sick. We are not going to educate our families on bigotry and acceptance all over again. We are not going to have an open mind and let them process their feelings about what it means to be bigoted all over again. We already did that. We are not doing it again.
There was a time when we spent our lives with our partner but could not be married. If our partners died, the family would come out of the woodwork and take the money and estate, as they were the next of kin. We were left broke and broken and alone. This will not happen again. We are not going back to a time when we could not be married. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when people felt empowered by their bigotry and hatred of us. They felt this so much that they tied us to fences and crucified us in the middle of the night in open fields and darkened streets and in broad daylight. They bloodied us with violent fists and killed us. We are not going back to a time when people felt protected enough to kill us. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when we had to live in secret because we could lose our jobs and be refused service at businesses for being different. The law did not protect us from being discriminated against. We had to live in secrecy to feed ourselves and our families. We are not doing that again.
There was a time when we married members of the opposite sex just so we could fit in and seem normal. We ended up ruining the lives of others by emotionally hurting our spouses and complicating the lives of our children. We are not going back to trying that normalization. We are not doing that again.
Lastly though, I will tell you what we will do. There was a time when those who had been abused, beaten, and weathered rose up. And we marched and protested and fought against the hate that was all around us. That, vice-president elect, we are doing again. We will do it again and again. We are not starting over. We are moving forward. The world has changed, and we are not going backwards.
We stood up and risked our lives and jobs and safety to earn our seat at the table. And with the help of kind leaders and brave politicians, we got that seat. You are not taking that away. We are already at the table. We are here. We are not coming to dinner. We are already at dinner.

Well the elecoral college was able to select our new president and commander in chief, Donald J Trump. The one that only has values that will benefit himself and the other billionaires nationwide. He has no respect for the middle class, poor, elderly, disabled, or the LGBT community. We as minorities, must stand together and show that we will not tolerate the indifferences that he is and will bring to the table. We Americans agree we want America Great Again, but that won’t happen unless we stand together and let him know we won’t tolerate any of his bullshit that he is bringing and brought. We can not only stand up against him, must also stand up to our Vice President elect Pence as he is just as cruel and discriminatory as the president-elect.
With recent news, the popular votes are being tallied and will decide if we have Donald J Trump as our president or if Hilary Clinton will be the president . With the current standings, Hilary has won the popular votes and that will allow the electoral voters to change their votes to Hilary. We can only hope and pray that the electoral voters will change their vote for the better of our Nation and to continue to make progress instead of going back and starting over.
However, one good thing that has come with this election, president-elect can not repeal same sex marriage as that has been set in stone permanently and President Obama has secured Planned Parenthood and that can’t be dismantled either. So those are a couple of accomplishments that can’t be taken away from us Americans.
I believe that the popular vote will win and prove that Hilary is the rightful commander-in-chief. With all of the protests and walk outs being displayed across the nation and the world, I believe that electoral voters will change their votes to better our government. I am with Hilary and always will be. So stand clear of 99% that wants to protect our nation and keep our nation secure and keep Americans from being feared of what will happen with president-elect.
So do your part as I am, and stand with the rightful leader of our country, Hilary Clinton!
When hearing about the nation’s largest shooting massacre in Orlando at the gay nightclub Pulse. I was in complete shock and dismay of what this person has done. He has taken so many lives and hurt so many. I do not understand what someone gets out of from doing these radical ignorant things. My heart bleeds for the victims and their families. We need better protection in our free country. One thing that we need is stricter gun laws. If someone has been interrogated by any federal agency and was placed on the no fly list, they should be marked and not allowed to purchase these weapons, even if they are removed from these lists. To all my brothers and sisters in the LGBTQ community, I am praying with you just like everyone else worldwide is. I pray that things like this never happens again.
Today there is a rising issue regarding the Transgender community that is repulsive. Several states have issued even more discriminating laws aimed towards the Trans community and of what restrooms that they are allowed to use. These discriminatory laws state that you are only allowed to use the restrooms that your born gender identity identifies with. I believe that if you identify as a Male or Female you should be able to use the restroom that you identify with. for decades, Trans people have used the bathrooms that they identified with without any repercussions up until now. They believe that allowing trans people into the bathroom that they are allowing child molesters and other pedophiles into the restrooms to create more victims. This is so untrue and unrealistic. The United States Department of Justice has recently filed a lawsuit against the state of North Carolina over their new discriminatory transgendered laws as they violate federal discrimination laws and the american civil rights laws. I stand behind the United States Attorney General’s right to file this lawful lawsuit against this state. The one thing that just disturbs be is why they (North Carolina) would all of a sudden write the new legislative law and enforce immediately when all of transgendered people have been using these restrooms for decades and then all of a sudden they want to make it illegal. There is something wrong with the minds of the legislators and governor of North Carolina. In my personal opinion these uneducated individuals are incompetent and need some more education. Yes, I don’t have the education that they may have, but I can say that I have more common sense and a better education than they do. I’m not racist or discriminate and have a whole lot better values than these incompetents.
When it comes to moving equality forward Donald J. Trump is the worst candidate possible on the face of the earth. He has done said he would repeal same-sex marriage his first in in the Oval Office as well as ACA also known as ObamaCare. If anyone has a fighting chance at being in office and making a real change it would be Hilary Clinton. I did have thoughts on Bernie Sanders, but with his ailing age, and chronic health issues, and this stress the office puts on you I don’t believe he would survive his first term of office and his predecessor would have to take over and that could be a tabernacle of a scene so call it one. So my overall opinion for a condidate would definitely have to be the Democratic Hilary Clinton!
Well you know, some elections are coming up real soon (mine today) and I can’t wait to get to the polls and cast my vote for the next President of the United States. I don’t really get into politics with that many people because of the their views and who they support and my views and of who I support. As most of you know from the title of my blog, I am a Democrat 100%. I wouldn’t change that for anything. I love the beliefs that I have and share with other Democrats. Right now there are 2 Democrats running that are trying to make it on the Primary in November 2016 and I had mixed emotions of who I wanted to vote for, either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton, as they both share a lot of the same views of each other. I have made my decision about a week ago of who I am going to vote for. After carefully considering and even volunteering for one of the candidates I am voting for Mrs. Hillary Clinton. Our future is with Hillary, she is the one the will move our country the way that it should be moved towards. I have been volunteering for the past week for Hillary, calling the American people to urge them to go out and vote.
Homophobia is still one phobia that is vastly looked upon. Homophobics are still trying to state the homosexuality is still a choice of the human race. I can attest from my point of being a homosexual that it is not a choice.
Then there is another thing that gets on my nerves. People who say they don’t care that you are gay, bi, trans, etc. But yet they don’t approve of same-sex marriage. They tell me they have no homophobic characterics in their body, but yet I’m my opinion they do when they object to samesex marriage.
I can say that we have come a long way in getting equal rights and treatments in our country and other countries worldwide. The fight isn’t over yet. In fact it has just begun. We still have a long way to go to make sure everyone has the same equal rights as the heterosexuals (opposite sex relationships) do.
There has been one movie/documentary that I have enjoyed since its release and shared and talked about on many occasions with family & friends, and it’s “Bridegroom“. If you still haven’t seen it, make sure to check it out on Netflix, and other streaming services worldwide.
